A cynical but fairly accurate view of the Art World from the Author of “I Bought Andy Warhol”, Richard Polsky. The book is worth reading… especially because it reveals the mindset of the Collector/Dealer.
Most of us as artists are part of the bottom tier of struggling artists according to Polsky’s Pyramid. Yet there is an arrogance by some that they can determine who can post and share their ideas. [This paragraph was written in Craigslist Art Forum] It is possible that there are a “few” who have reached the level of “potential stars” who pass through here but I doubt that too many here are are making $50,000-$100,000 off their art. I certainly have never made that off my art in a year and yet I’ve sold a fair amount of work.
