I don’t think Savimbi was either a bad guy or a war criminal.
He never started the Angolan civil war, he was quite content to be in a coalition government, it was Neto was the crazy one.
I don’t think Savimbi had any choice. Look at the FNLA, they went down the road of peace earlier than UNITA and look where they are now, cheated at the elections worse than UNITA with 2% of the vote is it?
Savimbi had no choice, and he did actually send his deputy Chitunda to negotiate peace and he was murdered along with thousands of others in the Halloween massacres. The MPLA has carried out genocide after genocide look at the Nito Alves atrocities.
