The note says: When there is no contrast the “form” is flat and no design - there is nothing.

When there is “total” contrast the “form” is flat and there is a design there is a composition

(”total” contrast being only black and white and no grays)

Done after seeing a Henry Moore exhibition of small sculptures and drawings & some of the imagery is based on the news images from Viet Nam.

Drawings are the Bones

… upon which the Ideas of Painting & Sculpture Hang… They provide a view of the Artist’s Mind…

A direct relationship between Mind and Hand… In many cases the Drawing provides an unedited vision of the Hand’s Work & the Concepts of the Mind.
