Basic Drawing

Drawing Kit for Beginners:

2-B, 4-B, 6-B Pencils, Compressed charcoal, Vine Charcoal, Gum Eraser, Kneaded Eraser, Tortillon or blending stumps [1], Workable Fixative, Conté sticks, India ink, Calligraphy brushes, Pastels, Chalks…… [rags & wipes to clean your hands] pencil sharpener, sanding block or sand paper, x-acto or utility knife…

A portfolio is a good idea… and if you can afford it buy several types of high quality drawing papers… at this stage test various papers to learn how a specific paper works for you and what media work best on what paper.

Set a budget for what you can afford and initially purchase materials within that budget… gain a little experience before you go “hog wild” buying materials.

If you have allergies to any of these material purchase a box of surgical gloves… good idea to have them anyway in your drawing kit.

There are many more materials used in drawing. All of these materials should be available at most of the Suppliers listed.
